Recipes of Note From Your Favorite Morning Shows

I have a large family so I am very budget minded when grocery shopping. I study weekly flyers to find out the best deals at each store and use every coupon I can. I buy in bulk when the price is right and I buy fresh produce only when it’s in season. Because of these budgetary constraints I rely heavily chicken meals. Chicken is less expensive than beef and is frequently on sale. There are so many ways to prepare chicken that it can be served for days on end without growing tiresome.

Even though I already use many different preparation methods I am always on the lookout for interesting chicken recipes and a good source for these have been the morning TV shows. From years of living in Florida I’ve learned that the best way to beat the sweltering afternoon heat is by being an early riser. This way I can get my household chores done before it gets hotter than the air conditioning can handle. I tune in either Good Morning America or The Today Show for background noise based on who has the most interesting guests.

When the cooking segment comes up I’m ready with paper and pencil in case it’s something I’m interested in. I like the way the recipes are presented in a step-by-step fashion so I can see exactly how hard it is to make and how much prep it takes. Of course for something that requires significant baking or stewing they will segue into the finished product but it gives me a pretty good idea if the recipe is something I am ready to tackle.

My kids’ favorite recipe came from the Today Show, bacon-wrapped Coca-cola chicken breasts. It sounds kind of weird but the carbonated cola serves to tenderize the meat while the syrup adds sweetness and the bacon sets the taste with a salty crispy coating. I picked up another family favorite from Good Morning America. It’s a dynamite chicken dressing that is slow-cooked for several hours and goes well with any type of chicken meal and even Thanksgiving turkey. What’s 1 more click?
